Eva Longoria was born in Corpus Christi in Texas, United States. She finished her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and subsequently took part in a talent contest, which paved way for her in the world of entertainment. She debuted with “The Bold and the Beautiful”, and followed it up with the memorable role of “Isabella” in the popular TV show “The Young and the Restless”. She was nominated for the prestigious Golden Globe Award for her great performance as “Gabrielle Solis” in another famed television show “Desperate Housewives”. Brought up on a ranch in Texas, Longoria has been named as one of the most beautiful people by a number of reputed magazines like “People”. Besides, she has also endorsed renowned brands such as L’Oreal and Hanes. She has been supporting a number of humanitarian causes and has been involved in many philanthropic activities, too. She has also written a cookbook titled “Eva’s Kitchen: Cooking with Love for Family and Friends” and has taken part in a promotion for Lay’s potato chips. Though, this attractive actor’s career was not a booming success at the beginning, it soon picked up and she’s currently one of the hottest stars in Hollywood.
Career
- In 1998, Longoria became Miss Corpus Christi, USA, while pursuing her bachelor’s degree. She also took part in another talent contest in Los Angeles, after college, where she was spotted by a theatrical agent.
- In 1999, she hosted a segment of the TV show, “L.A. In A Day”, produced by Gary Ghiaey. This was her first appearance on television.
- Subsequently, the steamy star appeared in a guest role in an episode of the famous show “Beverly Hills 90210”. Likewise, she also bagged a guest appearance in the show “General Hospital”.
- Following these guest performances, she was offered the role of ‘Isabella Bra�a’ in the soap opera “The Young and the Restless”, produced by CBS Daytime. This catapulted her to great fame.
- After this, she starred in a direct-to-video film “Se�orita Justice”, and a television film “The Dead Will Tell”.
- Her career breakthrough came in 2003, when she was cast as ‘Gabrielle Solis’ in the infamous comedy-drama “Desperate Housewives”. Thereafter, she also starred in and co-produced another direct-to-video film “Carlita’s Secret”.
- In 2006, the talented star was cast opposite Michael Douglas in the thriller “The Sentinel”. This was her first major role in a movie. The same year, she bagged a role in the Christian Bale and Freddy Rodriguez-starrer “Harsh Times”.
- “Eva’s Heroes” is a charity foundation that Longoria set up in 2006, for developmentally disabled children. In 2007, Longoria made it into the Hot 100 list of “Maxim”. She was ranked No. 9.
- From 2005 to 2010, she endorsed L’Oreal Paris and also served as its spokesperson.
- Her name appeared at the fourth spot on “Forbes Prime Time's 10 Top-Earning Women” list based on her income which was close to $12 million from June 2009 to June 2010.
- She also hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards 2010 held at Madrid in Spain. Besides acting, Longoria partnered with a few friends to open a restaurant, “Beso” in Hollywood.
- She also ventured into writing her first cookbook “Eva's Kitchen: Cooking with Love for Family and Friends” that was published in 2011.
- She is also wholeheartedly occupied with philanthropic activities. She has been involved with a number of organisations like PADRES Contra El Cancer, the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation, Project HOME, OmniPeace, the National Stroke Association, the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
- In May 2013, she earned her Master’s degree in Chicano Studies from California State University, Northridge.

- In 2006, Longoria was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for ‘Desperate Housewives’.
